November Minutes

Anne Machado called the meeting to order at 6:40 PM.

Mrs. Anderson began the meeting with the prayer, “Hail Mary”.


Anne Machado shared thank you notes sent by Linda Vecere, the family of Paul Di Cesare and the Mulvey Family.  Anne provided a report concerning publicity efforts.  A photo and an article highlighting Family Night and our donation to the Fishkill Food Pantry were recently featured in the Poughkeepsie Journal.  Catholic New York will be included in future publicity.


Approval of October Minutes Caryn Morales

Treasurer’s Report Brenda Yackeren

Ending Balance on 11/03/2008 was $8,367.38. Mrs. Anderson will confirm Art Teacher Salary.  51 families still owe dues. A reminder will be sent home.


Innisbrook Wrap Diane Hedrick

Total income to date for sale is $6083.59. Need verification of online sales and check needs to be forwarded to Innisbrook for payment. Estimated profit is $3041.79.


Family Night Denise Owens

Fred Clarke did a great job and contributed to the success of the event.  Feedback has been very positive and the possibility of holding another Family Night was mentioned. 

 

Cookie Dough     Danielle Quatrochi/Julie Greene

Caryn Morales reported that the profit for the sale is $1,737.30. We have 30 extra tubs as a result of Otis Spunkmeyer shipping policy. To offset the costs of the additional tubs we received a 45% profit on all orders.  An offer to donate the 30 tubs to Student Council was discussed. Delivery is set for Monday, November 17, 2008.


Craft Fair Kitchen Sandy Bulson/Lynn Jass/Katie Glembotzky

Brenda Yackeren reported a profit of $933.50. 36 families sent in a monetary donation and approximately 35 families provided a food item. The Craft Fair Kitchen was assigned to the 8th grade and nine parents helped in the kitchen.  Charlene Palazzo and Linda Herrera were a big help and have been asked to work the event next year.


Craft Fair Table Anne Machado

Anne Machado reported that the Fall Quilt raised $286.00. Jennifer Zamudio, a Kindergarten parent, was the winner.  Night of Giving Tickets, discounted Discount Cards, Scrapbook Night, Wreaths and Marionette Tickets were available at the Craft Fair.


Wreath Sale Trudi Newhard/Caryn Morales/Jennifer Gifford

Anne Machado reported that Sunny Gardens has allowed us to extend the sale by 1 week.  To date 87 wreathes have been sold.  Caryn will contact rectory to see if the back of Church is available to sell after Masses 11/8 – 11/9. 


Mall Night Trudi Newhard

34 tickets have been sold. We have 200 tickets available.  Ken Balasiano has agreed to sell Night of Giving Tickets at Medicap. Tickets will be sold after Masses.


Poinsettia Sale Kathy McElduff/Kathy Thoma/Katie Glembotzky

Info regarding upcoming sale will be placed in bulletin.  Pre-orders will be taken after Masses.

Christmas Shop Caryn Morales

A volunteer letter will be sent home to Kindergarten and 1st grade parents. Shopping is almost complete. Gym reserved for set up on 12/3 from 6:00 – 9:00. Check requested for $1000.00.


Defensive Driving Bob Doran

Course will be offered on December 6, 2008 in the Chapel. A flyer will be sent home on Friday. Info has been added to the SSL Website and will be included in the bulletin.


Directory Sandy Bulson

125 Copies have been made. Sandy has been working with Deidre Murphy and Tammy Martinez so they will be able to take the lead on the directory for next year.


Scrap Book Event Beth Raynor

Anne Machado reported that Beth Raynor has volunteered to host a scrapbook workshop on November 17. The cost for a two page Thanksgiving layout will be $10.00. The event will be held in the Chapel from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. Light refreshments will be provided. If the event is well received, future monthly workshop will be scheduled and a possible all day even in the spring will be considered.


SSL Closet Anne Machado

Lynn Smith has volunteered to maintain the closet and purchase items requested by event chairs.  Efforts are being made to be environmentally conscience with items purchased. The closet will be moved to its new location.


Father Robert has asked SSL to sell his Book of Poems.  He is donating $5.00 of the proceeds to us for every book we sell.

The board discussed possible Christmas Gift ideas/suggestions for the faculty with Mrs. Anderson.


Principal’s Report Mrs. Anderson 

Progress Report feedback has been positive.  Marking period ends November 7, 2008. Tutoring has begun on Mondays and the response has been very positive as well.  Raphael Beretta and Ruth Martin will read their winning Veterans Day Essays at Town Hall on November 10th.   Four winners were chosen out 150 submitted and two were Saint Mary students.  


October is the Month of Our Lady and all students received rosary beads.  Mrs. Spina has attended three sessions of a Consortium Workshop.  On October 31, 2008, the faculty attended the Values Infusion conference.  The 8th Grade attended Respect Life Day at St. Martin de Porres and received compliments on how they conducted themselves. The school participated in a coat drive for Dutchess Outreach in October.  During November, health kits will be collected for the Dutchess Coalition and in December Operation Christmas Child is planned.
